The Institute for the study of current Islam (ISCI) is the research wing of the International Peace University South Africa (IPSA) based in Cape Town.

The goal of the institute is to produce quality, relevant, research, that besides an intrinsic academic value, can be used by the South African Muslim community in particular to reflect upon issues that need to be addressed at local, national and international levels.

Focus areas:

The focus areas of the institute are as follows:
*The socio-legal position of Muslim minorities in the 21st century
*Trends and issues in contemporary Islamic thought in an era of globalization

The focus on these areas will always have its implications for South African Muslims prominently in mind.
